This 512,000 square foot, eight-story apartment building constructed in Denver, CO included 291 apartment units and a parking structure for approximately 466 vehicles. The superstructure included post-tensioned concrete beams/decks supported by reinforced concrete columns. The relatively heavy structure is found upon on a drilled shaft foundation system.

Geotechnical engineering services included advancing a series of hollow-stem auger test borings up to 60 feet followed by a second phase of geophysical investigation to confirm seismic parameters and the depth to bedrock across the site.

Materials testing services for this project included compaction testing of soils, fresh concrete testing, concrete and masonry compressive strength, asphalt compaction Special inspection services were performed during drilled shaft advancement, concrete placement of grade beams, foundation walls, columns, shear walls and post-tensioned concrete slab construction as well as masonry block placement and grouting. Field welding and bolting was provided for structural and miscellaneous metals.

CG Geotech has been involved in the redevelopment of Denver’s Stapleton International Airport for over 15 years. One of Denver’s most desirable neighborhood, Stapleton includes 4,700 acres of single and multi-family residential, commercial, industrial, and schools and healthcare facilities. As the largest urban infill project in the country, Stapleton presented some unique challenges to development and construction.

Our firm provided geotechnical engineering services for over 800 single-family and multi-family residences and over 83,000 square feet of retail space in 6 buildings. Our field staff provided special inspections and materials testing services for each of these residential and commercial projects as well as the associated infrastructure.
